Teacher and Student Bursaries
Teacher and student bursaries are disbursed annually to recipients chosen by the appropriate selection committees and ratified by Local Council. The Local has two student bursaries of $1000 each and 8 teacher bursaries of $500.
Student Bursary Guidelines
One bursary is given annually by the Local to a student enrolling in the initial year of full time study in Education at an accredited university or college. The applicants must be graduates of a high school in Peace Wapiti School Division #76.
Another bursary is awarded to the son or daughter of a certified teacher who is a member of the Northern Spirit ATA Local #6.
Both these scholarships shall be awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement and community/school service.
Official copies of transcripts of all high school marks must be submitted.
Applications must be mailed prior to September 30 to the Local President of Northern Spirit Local #6. The scholarships will be awarded by October 15 and disbursed upon proof of registration.

Through this bursary program, the Local encourages teachers to update their knowledge and improve their teaching skills by taking post secondary courses. Eight $500 bursaries will be awarded to local teachers who have completed a post secondary course and submitted proof that the tuition has been paid and that the course has been successfully completed.
Conditions:
· The course must be taken from a post secondary institution such as universities, colleges or technical school.
· Only course taken within one previous calendar year of the June 1 deadline are eligible.
· The recipient must provide an official transcript.
· The recipient must provide a receipt from the institution for the cost of tuition and proof of payment such as a credit card receipt.
· Candidates may only submit one application per year.
· Candidates must complete the application form and submit it with the required documentation to the local president no later then June 1 of each year.
Selection:
· Candidates will be selected randomly until all bursaries are allocated.
· The draw will be done by three local executive members including the president but excluding any member who is applying.
· The draw will be completed and recipients notified by June 10.
· Bursaries will be issued and mailed to the successful applicants by June 30.
Additional Notes:
· Names of the bursary recipients may be advertised.
· None of the bursary shall be repaid by the recipient.
Application and required documentation must be submitted no later than June 1.
