Teacher Bursaries

Northern Spirit ATA Local #6 award ten bursaries of $500.00 each to local teachers who have completed a post-secondary course. To be eligible for this bursary, recipients must submit proof that the tuition has been paid and that the course has been successfully completed by an official transcript.

Qualifications:

  1. The course must be taken from a post-secondary institution such as a university, college, or technical school.
  2. Only courses taken within one previous calendar year of the June 1st deadline are eligible.
  3. Candidates may only submit one application per year.
  4. Candidates must complete the application form and mail it with the required documentation to the Northern Spirit ATA Local #6 Treasurer and Vice-President no later than June 1st of each year.

Applications must include:

  1. The recipient must provide an official transcript from a post-secondary institution.
  2. The recipient must provide a receipt from the institution for the cost of tuition and proof of payment such as a credit card receipt
  3. A properly filled out application form. Download the application form.
  4. The applicant’s social insurance number for Canada Revenue Agency reporting purposes.

Selection:

  1. Candidates will be selected randomly until all bursaries are allocated.
  2. The draw will be done by the Local Treasurer and Vice-President, but will exclude either member if applying. If either the Treasurer or Vice-President apply, then the President will be consulted for selection.
  3. The draw will be completed and recipients notified by June 15.
  4. Bursaries will be issued and mailed to the successful applicants by June 30.

Special Notes:

  1.  Applications that are incomplete or incorrectly filled out will not be considered for the bursaries.
  2. No application received after the deadline will be considered.
  3. Names of the bursary recipients may be advertised.
  4. None of the bursary shall be repaid by the recipient.

Official copies of post-secondary transcripts, institution course receipts, and proof of payment must be submitted with the application form and mailed prior to June 1 to:
